Wild Ferret Christmas Spectacular!
December 20, 2007 @ 9:00pm EST
This was a great show! I covered everything I wanted to cover... it was chock full of audio cuts. Here's my random notes from the show:
opening song: Something like Falling, by A Troop of Echoes.
why the DCS player is broken
Talkback from Scott, Providence: I don't understand why everyone gets so upset about baseball players who use "performance enhancing drugs" when I see musicians smoke pot all the time to improve their playing. Isn't that hypocritical?
New DCS shows: - Atomik Karma, the new DCS show featuring interviews and music from the Rhode Island scene's heaviest bands. (Next show: January 6, 2008 @ 5:00pm EST ) - Brooklyn Coffee and Teahouse is back on line. They'll be away for a short winter break, but will resume broadcasting in January. - Cats and the Blackstone are ready to begin streaming any day. - The Ferret Lounge will now be monthly! The next show will be on (January 27, 2008 @ 11pm EST) - We will also be creating a separate in-studio show for you -- in your studio! Want it to be you?
Talkback from Dan, Smithfield: did I hear you say the invasion is on, because that would be cool?
Yes, the Invasion is on!
Talkback from Capt Peyote, Ganja Land: didn't you say you were going to open a place to play. whats that about?

Since we are entering a campaign season... why you should avoid politics in music performance. Did you know that Bob Dylan actually avoided being political?
And excellent series of clips from a CSPAN presentation featuring Kurt Loder and his insights into the new media. It happened on 11.03.07 in Washington as part of a reason.org event.
I want you to examine your artistic integrity. I found this old movie called the Fountain Head, which made me reconsider the fine art of compromise. Maybe you should, too. I've got some clips and I'm hoping to make you think. I know that can be dangerous, but don't worry, I'm a professional.

The Next Martini
May 15, 2008 @ 11:00pm EST
Too much James Bond lately and I feel shaken (not stirred). So even though I don't touch martini's... this night, the Lounge will be serving them exclusively. This is an overdue broadcast (but hey ain't they all?) about the Invasion, a little music history, and a tale of warning and woe about mailing lists.

| Episode 7 - Wild Ferret Christmas Spectacular! | | December 20, 2007 @ 9:00pm EST | | After a bit of a Hiatus, the Chief Ferret returns to the airwaves!
There'snot really a lot of Christmas in this episode, sorry to say... despitethe title. What I will give you, though, is the current status ofRattleHead head projects, confirm some rumours and deny others.
Thisepisode should be a lot of fun... I have an audio-clip intensebroadcast planned, with some interesting bits from a recent interviewwith Kurt Loder from MTV about this brave new digital music age. We'llget into why you should keep politics outof your performances, and I'll even shatter a myth about Bob Dylan. Then there's some news, the RattleHead voicemail I promised... and I'llleave you with something to think about: your artistic integrity. Whatcould be more important? |
| Episode 6 - Introducing RattleHead 8.0 | | July 11, 2007 @ 06:00am EST | | | This is a show about the brand new RattleHead website. A gigantic overhaul that required hundreds of hours of programming by rotating gangs of geek slaves. I'll give a little tour. There's so many new things, and this is only the beginning! A lot of the changes to the site are simply to lay foundations for the processing of ungodly large amounts of audio that will be forthcoming. gigdates.com is now online, props to Uncle Mantis! Apologies for the last broadcast. Wordz is back. Music in this episode: 10-Fold - Fire, Blackstone Valley Crew - Superbitch, State of Corruption - Beer for Every Man, Slugworth - Trampled |
| Episode 5 - 2007 Post-Invasion Wrap-up | | June 7, 2007 @ 12:00am EST | | | This was a silly program. Hanging with Mantis in the studio working on code, and decided to let y'all know how it went and save you all an email. Since it went great and there wasn't much more to say than that, the rest of the time was filled with all kinds of music I lost my notes for and some intermittent commentary that should probably be forgotten. It is only because of my honesty as a performer that I present this episode in its original unedited form - or at all. |
| Episode 4 - 2007 Pre-Invasion Show | | May 29, 2007 @ 10:00pm EST | | | This is your fabulous Pre-Invasion Show! All about the impending Invasion, including the complete roster of performers, a little history, and details about what's going down. I'll answer user mail: are CDs dead? do you own an iPod? why don't we have anything on youTube? Music in this episode: Shiver - Streamline, Street Corner Healers - Something New. |
| Episode 3 - State of the Scene | | January 31, 2007 @ 5:30pm EST | | | The third podcast. Can you believe it? This was intended to be a more "State of the Scene" broadcast. The least I can do is dedicate this lame little podcast to Randy Hein. Thank you Randy. We wrap up the 2006 stats on the DownCitySignal and RattleHead sites. Brooklyn Coffee Teahouse is now streaming regularly. Two new venues we're working on. The end of The In On The What. How to use the Amber email address on your RattleHead profile. What QUIX is, and why it's good for you! Obsidian...? Music in this episode: Shiver - Streamline, Street Corner Healers - Something New. |
